Free Site Survey for Glass Doors, Partitions and Smart Glass in the UAE

SEG | SMARTEGLASS offers a free site survey within 24 hours of your enquiry (working hours, Monday to Saturday). Our team visits, measures the opening, checks the wall, glass and power point, and talks you through the options. Then we issue a written quote. Installation typically takes about 7 days depending on project scope. We cover all seven emirates.

What the free site survey is

The survey is a visit to your villa, apartment, shop or office before anything is quoted or made. It costs nothing, and there is no obligation to buy. Someone from our team looks at the real opening, takes the measurements and tells you which options suit it.

Glass makes this matter more than most materials. A panel is made to size and cannot be trimmed on site the way a stud wall can. We measure on the day, in the actual room, so the door fits the opening and not just the drawing.

After the survey we prepare a written quote. You decide what to do with it.

How it works: four steps

  1. Message us.

Use WhatsApp, phone, email or the form. Tell us what you want to fit (a sliding door, smart film, an office partition), the emirate and area, and send a few photos if you can.

  2. We arrange the visit within 24 hours.

“Within 24 hours” means within our working hours, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. An enquiry sent on a Sunday is handled on Monday. Exact timing can depend on your location and the day.

  3. We measure and advise on site.

We check the opening and the surrounding structure, then explain what will work, what will not, and why.

  4. You receive a written quote.

It covers the agreed scope, what is included and the timeline.

What we check on site

The checks change with the product. Here is what we look at for each.

What SEG checks during a free site survey, by product
Product What we look at during the survey
Ghost sliding doors and other slimline doors Opening width and height, floor level, ceiling or wall support for the track, clear wall length for the panel to travel, handles, skirting and furniture that could limit the opening
Pocket sliding system Wall type and thickness, whether a cavity is possible, pipes and cables inside the wall, how the track and panel can be reached for maintenance
Smart film on existing glass Glass type and condition, panel sizes, frame, where the power point is and how the cable can run, whether the glass faces strong sun or a wet area
Laminated smart glass Opening size, frame depth, edge connections, the power feed and the position of the switch
Office glass partitions Floor and ceiling lines, what the partition can be fixed to, power route for any switchable panels, building access and working-hours rules

UAE homes and offices: what we look out for

A few site conditions come up again and again in the UAE.

  • Sun-facing glass. If a panel takes direct afternoon sun, tell us. It affects which options we discuss.
  • Humid or wet areas. Bathrooms, dressing areas next to bathrooms and covered terraces need a closer technical look before we recommend a product.
  • Villa walls. Interior walls in villas are often blockwork or stud partitions. Which one you have changes what is possible for a pocket or concealed track.
  • Apartments and offices. Building management may set rules for access, lift use and working hours. Tell us early so the installation can be planned around them. The client arranges site passes and approvals with building management, and at the survey we tell you what access we need.

What to have ready

You do not need drawings to book. The more you send, the more useful the visit will be.

  • Photos of the whole opening, plus close-ups of the wall, ceiling edge and frame
  • Rough width and height, if you have them
  • Plans or elevations, if they exist
  • The location of the nearest power outlet (important for smart glass)
  • Your emirate and area, and any building access details
  • Anything you already know you want: finish colour, a particular door style, privacy level

Someone with site access should be there on the day. If access goes through a contractor or building management, mention it on WhatsApp and we will plan around it. Site passes and permits are needed on site, and the client arranges them with building management.

After the survey

You get a written quote for the agreed scope, with what is included and the timeline. Since 2022, SEG | SMARTEGLASS has supplied and installed glass systems in the UAE. If you go ahead, our own installation team does the work. Installation typically takes about 7 days after the survey, depending on project scope. It is not a fixed promise, because wall work, glass lead times and access all vary. Installation is normally carried out during working hours, and any exception is discussed at the survey.

Warranty is from 1 year, depending on the product.

Where we work: all seven emirates

SEG serves all seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Our office and showroom are at W-13, Umm Ramool, Dubai, near Airport Terminal 1. Visit our showroom Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.

What affects your quote

We do not publish a price list, because the same door name can mean very different jobs. Four things drive the quote:

  • Glass type (clear, fluted, switchable, laminated build-up)
  • Size of each panel and the number of panels
  • Hardware (track, guides, handles, locks, controller for smart glass)
  • Installation (wall work, access, working conditions)

The survey is what lets us put real figures against each one.

Six questions to ask any glass door or glass supplier

Put them to us, or to anyone else you are comparing.

  1. Do you survey on site before quoting, or quote from a photo?
  2. Is the installation done by your own team or by a subcontractor?
  3. What exactly is included: glass, hardware, power supply, controller, wall work, making good?
  4. What is the warranty period, what does it cover and is it in writing?
  5. Who is responsible for electrical work and builder’s work around the door?
  6. What is the realistic timeline, and what could delay it?

FAQ

Is the site survey really free?

Yes. SEG | SMARTEGLASS does not charge for the site survey. You get a visit, measurements and advice at no cost. After the survey we prepare a written quote, and there is no obligation to buy.

How fast can you come after I ask?

We arrange the free site survey within 24 hours of your enquiry. That means within working hours, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm, so an enquiry sent on a Sunday is handled on Monday. Exact timing can depend on your location and the day.

Which emirates do you cover?

We serve all seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Message us with your emirate and area when you book.

What should I prepare before the survey?

Send photos of the opening, rough sizes, any plans, and the position of the nearest power outlet. Make sure someone with site access is there. For smart glass, tell us if the panel faces strong sun or a wet area.

How long does installation take after the survey?

Installation typically takes about 7 days after the survey, depending on project scope. The timeline for your job is confirmed in the written quote.

Who installs the doors or glass?

Our own installation team does the work. SEG does not use outside contractors for installation, so the people who survey and fit your glass work for the same company.

What do I get after the survey?

A written quote for the agreed scope, with what is included and the timeline. It lists the main cost items so you can compare it with other quotes.

Do I have to buy after the survey?

No. There is no obligation to buy after the survey. The site survey is free, and after it we prepare a written quote for you to read and consider at your own pace.

What should I ask any supplier before I choose?

Ask whether they survey first, who installs, what the quote includes, what the warranty covers in writing, who handles electrical and builder’s work, and what could delay the timeline. The six questions above work for any company.
